About the Role

An established organisation is seeking an experienced Accountant to join their finance team in Pretoria East.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years' practical accounting experience and be comfortable managing day-to-day accounting functions, including the general ledger, cash book, debtors, creditors, VAT and PAYE.

This role is suited to a hands-on accounting professional with strong attention to detail and practical experience working with Pastel and SARS e-Filing.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day accounting functions.
  • Maintain and reconcile the General Ledger (GL).
  • Manage and maintain the cash book.
  • Process and manage debtors and creditors.
  • Perform account reconciliations.
  • Prepare and process VAT calculations and submissions.
  • Prepare and process PAYE calculations and submissions.
  • Assist with monthly accounting and financial processes.
  • Ensure financial records are accurate and up to date.
  • Process financial transactions and maintain supporting documentation.
  • Assist with SARS-related requirements and submissions.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting and tax requirements.
  • Provide general financial and accounting support to the business.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years' relevant accounting experience.
  • Practical, hands-on experience in day-to-day accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • General Ledger
    • Cash Book
    • Debtors
    • Creditors
    • VAT
    • PAYE
    • Account reconciliations
  • Pastel experience is essential.
  • SARS e-Filing experience is essential.
  • Experience within the services industry will be advantageous.
  • Manufacturing industry experience will also be considered.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good organisational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
