Engineering Specialist (Mechanical & Electrical)

A leading transformer manufacturing and engineering organisation in Germiston is looking for an experienced Engineering Specialist with deep expertise in transformer design, failure investigation and transmission engineering. This is a senior technical role suited to an engineer who can combine hands-on engineering knowledge with high-level technical reporting, client engagement, research and development, and technical problem solving.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • BTech / BSc / BEng in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • 10+ years' relevant engineering experience
  • Strong transformer design experience – NON-NEGOTIABLE
  • Proven failure investigation experience – NON-NEGOTIABLE
  • Experience in transmission, distribution or transformer manufacturing
  • Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving capability
  • Experience with R&D, technical submissions and tender costing
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and standards
  • Strong knowledge of IEC, SANS and related standards
  • AutoCAD 2D & 3D proficiency
  • Strong report writing and client-facing communication skills
  • ERP experience; Syspro advantageous
