In this role, you will apply your outpatient coding expertise to review, annotate, and validate clinical documentation while ensuring accurate code assignment and compliance with industry standards.</p><p>No prior AI experience is required. Your medical coding expertise and attention to detail are the primary focus.</p><p>Responsibilities</p><ul><li>Review and annotate outpatient medical records, including physician office visits, specialty clinic encounters, ambulatory surgery cases, and hospital outpatient services.</li><li>Assign and validate accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes based on clinical documentation.</li><li>Apply Evaluation & Management (E&M) coding guidelines using medical decision-making or total-time methodologies.</li><li>Ensure compliance with outpatient coding conventions, diagnosis coding guidelines, modifier usage, and medical necessity requirements.</li><li>Link diagnoses appropriately to procedures and services performed.</li><li>Review coding scenarios and identify documentation gaps, inconsistencies, or coding inaccuracies.</li><li>Provide detailed feedback on coding decisions, guidelines, and complex coding situations.</li><li>Collaborate with project teams to clarify coding requirements and resolve documentation ambiguities.</li><li>Contribute to the development of high-quality datasets used to improve AI understanding of medical coding workflows.</li></ul><p>Required Qualifications</p><ul><li>Active AAPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification.</li><li>Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II coding systems.</li><li>Experience applying outpatient E&M coding guidelines.</li><li>Hands-on outpatient coding experience in physician offices, specialty clinics, ambulatory surgery centers, or hospital outpatient departments.</li><li>Strong understanding of coding compliance, documentation requirements, and medical necessity standards.</li><li>Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.</li><li>Strong written and verbal communication abilities.</li><li>Ability to work independently in a remote environment.</li></ul><p>Preferred Qualifications</p><ul><li>Experience coding across multiple specialties and outpatient care settings.</li><li>Familiarity with office visit notes, operative reports, procedure documentation, and other clinical record types.</li><li>Experience reviewing complex coding scenarios and resolving coding discrepancies.</li><li>Access to current ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS Level II references, and E&M guidelines.</li><li>Experience with medical record review, auditing, quality assurance, or coding education.</li><li>Familiarity with healthcare compliance standards and reimbursement requirements.</li><li>Previous experience supporting data review, annotation, or AI-related projects is a plus.</li></ul><p>Compensation & Engagement</p><ul><li>Compensation ranges from <strong>$20–$32/hour</strong>.</li><li>This is a <strong>remote contractor opportunity</strong> available to professionals based in the United States.</li><li>Flexible project-based work with independent scheduling.</li><li>Focused on applying outpatient coding expertise to support AI training and evaluation initiatives.</li><li>No prior AI experience is required.</li></ul><p>Application Process</p><ol><li>Submit your application and coding credentials.</li><li>Complete any required coding assessments or screening tasks.</li><li>Participate in project review and onboarding.</li><li>Begin contributing to coding review, annotation, and AI training activities.</li></ol><p><br></p>
