Mining Area Manager - Pumps+Valves

One of the world's leading manufacturers of pumps, valves and related services for the mining, water, energy and industrial sectors. The Sales Manager will be responsible for driving the strategic growth and consolidation of company's market share within the Southern African mining industry through solution-based selling, market analysis, customer engagement and technical leadership. The role focuses on expanding the mining customer base, identifying new project opportunities, supporting EPC projects, providing technical expertise on slurry pump applications and leading regional sales strategies to achieve sustainable business growth.

Duties & Responsibilities

Purpose of Role: Drive the strategic growth and consolidation of company's market share in the Southern African mining sector through effective market analysis, customer engagement and competitive positioning. Enhance customer satisfaction and technical service delivery by providing consistent support, training and product awareness across key regions. Maintain strong collaboration with internal teams, dealers and engineering partners to support new project development and optimise product performance. Promote operational excellence through accurate data management, timely reporting and continual process improvements aligned with company standards. In addition to these functions, the incumbent is required to carry out such other duties as may be reasonably required.

Experience Required - NOT negotiable

  • 8-10 years' experience in Pump Sales Management within the mining industry.
  • Extensive experience with slurry pump applications and mining operations.
  • Strong technical understanding of pumping systems and related applications.
  • Experience working on Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) projects.
  • Proven ability to analyse, design and recommend complex pumping solutions.
  • Experience with tender preparation, costing and contract management.
  • Demonstrated success in business development, sales growth and key account management.

Systems Knowledge

  • Microsoft 365.
  • SAP.
  • SAP C4C (Cloud for Customer).
  • Pump selection software such as SPAIX, GIW Slurry, and Easy Select.

Education:

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Desired Experience & Qualification

The ideal candidate will currently be employed by a leading pump or mining equipment manufacturer, or a similar OEM supplying slurry pumps and pumping solutions into the mining sector. They should possess strong relationships with mining houses, EPC contractors and consulting engineers across Southern Africa, coupled with a proven record of delivering sales growth through technical solution selling.
