Location: Pretoria (Silverton)

Salary: R15,000 – R20,000 per month (based on experience and suitability)

 

Company & Position Overview

Our client is a well-established contractor in the petroleum/fuel industry, specialising in the installation and maintenance of pump and tank equipment on forecourts for major Oil Companies. Known for their strong safety culture, technical expertise, and long-standing client relationships, they are now looking to appoint a Procurement & Stores Administrator to join their small, close-knit office team.

 

This role is ideal for a reliable, detail-oriented individual who wants to grow into a broader administrative function within a technical, construction-driven environment. The successful candidate will take primary responsibility for procurement and stores/stock management, while being groomed over time to assist with job card administration, costing, and safety administration — ensuring the office can always operate smoothly, including during the company's busy December standby period when teams remain on call for Oil Company clients.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Source, request, and compare quotations from suppliers for materials, tools, and consumables
  • Place and track purchase orders, ensuring accurate pricing, timeous delivery, and correct stock received
  • Book and coordinate materials, plant, and equipment required for construction sites, liaising with site teams and suppliers on scheduling and logistics
  • Manage stores and stock control: receiving, recording, issuing, and replenishing stock with a high level of accuracy
  • Conduct regular stock takes and maintain accurate inventory records
  • Maintain professional relationships with suppliers and negotiate favourable terms where possible
  • Provide general office administrative support as required
  • Step in to cover colleagues' duties during leave or illness to ensure business continuity
  • Assist with office administration (including job card processing and costing) during the company's December standby period, on a rotational basis (approximately every third year)
  • Progressively learn and assist with job card administration and safety/HSSE administration as training is provided
  • Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times, representing the company both internally and with clients/suppliers

Desired Experience & Qualification

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric / Grade 12
  • Own reliable transport and valid driver's licence
  • Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Previous experience in procurement, stores, stock control, or general office administration
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Well-presented and professional demeanour
  • South African citizen or valid work permit

 

Desired Requirements

  • Experience in the construction, engineering or industrial sectors will be beneficial
  • Previous exposure to stock/inventory management systems
  • Basic understanding of job costing or job card administration
  • Exposure to safety/HSSE administration
  • A proactive, "broad-minded" individual who is eager to learn and take ownership of a function
  • Team player with a flexible, "all hands on deck" attitude and willingness to assist beyond their core role
  • Ambition to grow into a more senior all-round administrative role over time
