Student Nurse Extern II, Day Shift, Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

About the position

Shady Grove Medical Center seeks to hire a Student Nurse Extern for our Progressive Care Unit (PCU) who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing. As a Student Nurse Extern, you will fulfill all CNA duties and will be allowed to perform advanced nursing skills under the RN’s supervision and guidance. May be counted in staffing (as applicable per entity). Not to be used in companion role. You will be hired as an AHC variable-part time (VPT) employee and directly report to the unit manager. You will work on adult patient care areas within Med-Surg, Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Acute Rehabilitation, and Behavioral Health.

Responsibilities

  • Fulfill all CNA duties and perform advanced nursing skills under the RN’s supervision and guidance.
  • May be counted in staffing (as applicable per entity).
  • Not to be used in companion role.
  • Work on adult patient care areas within: Med-Surg, Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Acute Rehabilitation and Behavioral Health.
  • Complete skills lab for nursing, BTG and CPI class during orientation.
  • Orient with CNA for 3 shifts (Must be completed before working on the unit).

Requirements

  • Status of a Rising Senior
  • Active Maryland Board of Nursing Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
  • Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Submitted resume and cover letter.
  • Submitted transcripts with GPA 3.0 or Higher
