They are looking for an experienced Test Engineer to join their Research & Development team in Paarl. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys combining hardware and software to develop innovative testing solutions in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

About the Role

As a Test Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining sophisticated test equipment used to validate cutting-edge electronic products. You'll work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to improve testing processes, reduce manufacturing costs, and ensure products meet the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement manual and automated product test equipment and testing infrastructure.
  • Develop innovative test solutions to improve efficiency, reliability, and product quality.
  • Analyse test data to identify opportunities to optimise test processes, reduce production time, and lower operational costs.
  • Maintain and enhance existing test equipment and provide technical support to manufacturing partners.
  • Investigate and evaluate new technologies, components, and testing methodologies through proof-of-concept development.
  • Collaborate with hardware, firmware, software, and product development teams throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Train technical staff on new test equipment, systems, and processes.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across engineering and manufacturing.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Requirements

  • BEng or MEng in Electronic Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
  • 3–8 years' experience in product testing, electronic engineering, or a similar technical environment.
  • Strong programming skills in C, C++, or C#.
  • Proficiency in Python scripting.
  • Experience with PCB schematic design and electronic hardware debugging.
  • Embedded systems programming and debugging experience.
  • Familiarity with hardware communication interfaces such as RS-485, SPI, I²C, and USB.
  • Experience developing with Raspberry Pi or similar embedded platforms.
  • A solid understanding of electronic test systems and automation.
